Danville is located in the heart of Kentucky, famous for horse racing, tradition and Southern hospitality. Drive through Kentucky's unique Knob lands to Penn's Store, listed as the oldest country store in America still in operation by the same family. If time permits while traveling through Kentucky, baseball enthusiasts and teams will want to stop in Louisville to visit Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory and Louisville Slugger Field. Visitors will also want to stop at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and the Churchill Downs, which is the racetrack most famous for the oldest continuously run sporting event in the United States, the Kentucky Derby. Known as the “Run for the Roses” or the greatest two minutes in sports, the Derby is the first leg of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred horse racing. In addition to the Derby, Churchill Downs hosts spring and fall race meets and simulcast throughout the year.
